Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 5th May 2024.

(May 05, 2024)

Our 2nd appearance in the Brodie Tray League at Worthing Pavilion ended in defeat by 3 rinks to 1 (76 - 54). Congratulations to skip Pamela Chambers and her team of Keith White and Ken Leadbetter on gaining 2 points winning 17 - 8.

We had a close encounter at home against Storrington in a friendly match who won narrowly by 2 rinks to 1 (36-31). Bob Sampson, Barry Cuckow and Perry Cairns survived a late flourish by Storrington to ease home by 16 – 11.

Heavy overnight rain resulted in the cancellation of our friendly match against Arundel.

Fortunately, earlier in the week a start was made to our Triples League and Australian Pairs competitions. In addition, the draw for our internal club competitions has been made and therefore we look forward to increased activity on the green. This will include our Supreme Champion match on Saturday the 11th and an Open Day invitation to the public on Sunday the 12th to join us on the green if you want to try bowls.

Alan Paterson, Press Officer.
