Marine Gardens BC – report for week ending 18/06/21.
(June 18, 2021)A balmy day at Marine Gardens and a friendly game comprising three sets of triples against our new friends from Adastra BC. The visitors secured a win on one rink, albeit by a narrow margin of 3 shots, but the hosts held firm on the other two and bagged a comfortable win by 53 shots to 38.
Rink scores: Sunday 13/06/21 – home friendly v Adastra
David Hughes, John Nettleingham & skip Bob Cole – won by 19 shots to 13.
Sandra Baker, Anne Knight & skip Mark Berriman – won by 21 shots to 9.
Paul Baker, Fred Knight & skip Harry Smith – lost by 13 shots to 16.
Marine Gardens 53 shots beat Adastra 38 shots.
Monday 14 June and Marine were on the road to Storrington for a West Sussex League match. Another perfect summer’s day and happily a perfect result for the visitors; winning on all four rinks and by a margin of 88 shots to 37. Top rink bragging rights went to the experienced & resilient trio Leon White, Jim Gray & skip Dennis Martin who were victorious by 31 shots to 8.

Noel Stevenson, Dennis Crossweller & skip Harry Smith – won by 18 shots to 9.
Alan Patterson, Albert Leatham & skip Mike Hitchin – won by 23 shots to 12.
Leon White, Jim Gray & skip Dennis Martin – won by 31 shots to 8.
Steve Davis, John Nettleingham & skip Ivan Godsmark – won by 16 shots to 8.
Marine Gardens 88 shots beat Storrington 37 shots.
Thursday 17 June and Marine hosted Middleton in a West Sussex League match. The away game had been a thrilling tie and Marine had also notched a rare win in a county comp over the same opposition. So, the visitors arrived with steely determination to play well. And they did across all 4 rinks on the way to a comprehensive win by 90 shots to 49. The green was inconsistent, but Middleton overcame any issues and the hosts for a well-deserved victory.

Friday 18 June – the Captain v Vice-Captain match was the victim of classic British summer weather – a few days of warm sun and then very wet! Postponed until the sun returns.
