Marine Gardens Bowling Club, Captain’s FUN DAY – Sunday, 28th August 2022.
Club members managed stalls providing tombola, book sales, Bric-a-Brac, home made cakes,
spirit raffles, guess the weight of the cake and fun games on the bowling green.
Despite the disappointing weather, it was a very enjoyable day, and we are pleased to report
the Fun Day raised a total sum of £1,000.00.

“Saturday 25th April 2020 was the scheduled Opening Drive for Marine Gardens BC.
For obvious reasons the real one could not take place,
but a virtual drive is the next best thing.
Members kindly photographed themselves in action
and some of the results are shown here.
The club committee wishes all members and friends in the bowls community
good health in these unsettling times.
We hope to be out on the green; enjoying the sun and the excellent company,
as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Jill Colbourn – the club President immaculately turned out as usual.
Norman Deegan MBE – excellent technique from the wily club Treasurer
but is that a lockdown beard?
Are razors no longer tax-deductible then?
Kate & Terry Urben – 17-year-old junior Kate wins another end of carpet bowls.
Dad & club Press Officer Terry looks as jolly as ever.
Should be used to losing, he gets plenty of practice.
Bob Cole – the club’s Fixture Secretary works out in the back-garden.
Pumping iron? No, Drake Pride D-Tecs.
Jan & Bryan Hartley – looking smart but not sure about Bryan’s lockdown moustache!
Where is this going, will it be a Hercule Poirot, a Tom Selleck or even a Jason King?
Younger readers can google as needed.
Albert Leatham
The club’s other Lancastrian has a head for heights as he rolls up among the roof-tops!
Pamela Chambers – seems two bowls at same time is fine!
Paula Seymour & Mark Berriman
Smiles all-round from new members and keen volunteers Paula & Mark.
Mary Etherington– not sure about the two bowls at once tactic!
Dennis Martin
Maximum effort required on what looks like a rather long back-garden green!
Harry Tattersall
Looking dapper but where is the ice-cream for the Magnum devouring Lancastrian?
Ray Hatton
Relaxing in his garden, looking forward to an end to the lockdown.
Clive Wootton – concentrating hard.
