Marine Gardens Bowling Club, end of season report, Sunday, 1st October 2023.
(October 01, 2023)The season for Marine Gardens ended with a home win against Goring Manor and an away defeat against Tarring Priory.
The result against Goring could not have been closer at 57 - 56. Marine Gardens won on 2 rinks, lost 1 and halved 1. Top rink honours went to Eric Hayward, Bill Hurren, Albert Leatham and skip Jim Gray. Credit must also go to the losing rink of John Dorkings, Susan Lear, Pat Hogan, and skip David Sayer for a spirited fightback winning 4 shots on the final end thus ensuring the overall victory.
Tarring Priory were victorious on 3 of the 4 rinks running up a winning scoreline of 90 - 61. Our crumbs of comfort were garnished by John Sadler, Albie Marsella, Ken Leadbeater, and skip Ivan Godsmark who battled hard to run out 24 - 27 winners.
The curtain fell on our season with a Club Drive competed on all 6 rinks with final plaudits going to Anne Knight, John Dorkings, Albert Leatham and skip Graham Poole.
An enjoyable afternoon to end an enjoyable season. Roll on April 2024!
