Marine Gardens Bowling Club report w/ending Sunday, 21st April 2024.
(April 21, 2024)Marine Gardens Bowling Club opened on Saturday, 20th April, the first bowls of the season were delivered by President Norman Deegan and Captain Jim Gray, and they were delighted to find the green in excellent condition and bowling exceptionally well.
The 2024 season got off to a good start with all 6 rinks being fully used. Several non-playing members were on hand to proffer advice and encouragement. A warm refreshment would have been more appropriate given the cold northerly wind which accompanied the wintry sunshine.
Everyone enjoyed being back outdoors again and looked forward to a season of games uninterrupted by poor weather.
On this occasion, top rink honours went to Roy Mills, Phil Tester, Ken Leadbeater and Graeme Poole. The inaugural Spider was won by Roger Parrish and the bottle of whisky found a grateful owner.
