Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 12th May 2024.
(May 12, 2024)The warm weather brought with it some better results for Marine Gardens bowlers. A close match at home, against Norfolk, resulted in a 3 - 2 rink win for the home team, with an overall shots score of 79 - 70. Top rink honours went to skip Graeme Poole, Albert Leatham, Betty Stevenson, and John Nettleingham. This was followed by another home win, against Tarring Priory, by 2 rinks to 1, with one halved (69 - 55). John Nettleingham again featured in the top rink, with skip Ivan Godsmark, Pamela Chambers, and Wendy Wilson.
The sun continued to shine on our fixture to decide our 2024 Supreme Champion, which this year pitted two of our newer members against each other: Jane McHugh and Perry Cairns. On this occasion, Perry proved to be the more consistent performer and took the title in front of an appreciative crowd. Well, done, both players.
We held our first Open Day on Sunday, 12th May, welcoming many prospective members. A further opportunity will be on Sunday, the 26th of May for interested persons to try their hand at this wonderful sport. Come along and join us on the green, a warm welcome awaits you!
