Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 9th June 2024
(June 09, 2024)This was a period when Marine Gardens bowlers travelled well. In a Brodie Tray match at Tarring Priory, they registered a good win (58 - 76) winning 3 of the 4 rinks. David Barlow, Ken Leadbeater, and Duncan Gayler showed excellent form in winning 12 - 29.
This was followed by a trip to Maltravers for a WSBL match when although losing 2 rinks to 1 Marine Gardens recorded a higher number of shots (56 - 63) thus sharing the points 4 apiece. Thanks to Rod Smith, Ken Leadbeater, Brian Harrison, and Leon White for a match-saving effort in winning by 16 - 28.
The final destination was closer to home at Worthing Pavilion. This again was a WSBL match with Marine Gardens taking 6 of the 8 points available and winning on 2 of the 3 rinks. Ken Leadbeater again featured in the top rink, with Terry Ashley, Norman Deegan, and Graeme Poole winning 14 -20.
The Ladies stayed at home hosting Middleton. The match was halved by 1 rink each, but Middleton earned the match points with a narrow 26 - 29 shots victory. Angela Neale, Linda Gayle, Liz Baldwin, and Jenny Ashman achieved a first win for our Ladies, with many more to come.
