Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 30th June 2024
(June 30, 2024)The week's highlight was the nail-biting game on Saturday at Arundel in the WSBL fixture. Marine Gardens won a keenly contested match 2 rinks to 1 with an overall shot victory of 50 – 47, too close to call. Marine Gardens therefore registered a 6 - 2 points win. Top Rink honours went to Bob Cole, Leon White, Perry Cairns, and skip Ivan Godsmark winning 17 - 14.
At home on Saturday, Marine Gardens ladies hosted Arundel in a GSM League match which ended in a 1 rink win for each team and an overall shot victory of 42 – 37 for the Arundel ladies' team, gaining 4 of the 6 available points.
Earlier in the week the trip to Lancing for the Brodie Tray fixture was less rewarding with the team skipped by A Leatham being the only winners (11 - 17). The overall shots score favoured the home team 75 - 61.
The friendly fixture at Southwick ended in a draw at 2 games all with the home team having the better shots total 57-49.
In the final friendly match at home against Southwater Marine Gardens lost narrowly on 3 rinks but won convincingly on the 4th where Ken Murray, Pamela Chambers, and skip Mark Berriman ran out 24 - 8 ahead. This gave Marine Gardens the overall shots lead of 80 - 67.
