Marine Gardens Bowling Club, Report w/ending Sunday, 14th July 2024
(July 14, 2024)The week started well with Marine Gardens recording a winning 2 - 1 rinks away against Bognor B in the WSBL, taking them to the top of the league. James Albon skipped the team, with Terry Ashley, David Barlow, and Ken Leadbeater leading the charge to the top with an outstanding 39 -11 victory.
A less favourable result was registered at home against Worthing Pavilion in the Stracey Shield when the visitors won 3 - 1 rinks with an 83 - 68 shot difference. A strong finish in the last 3 ends by Susan Lear, David Smith, John Nettleingham and skip Ivan Godsmark (20 - 19) prevented a whitewash.
The week ended on a high with the Ladies' team gaining all 6 points in the GSM league match away from home against Middleton (White). This initial victory was a real team effort with Top Rink honours going to Betty Stevenson, Sandy Lay-Flurrie, Jenny Power and skip Wendy Wilson winning by 24 - 10 and looking forward to more to come.
Social Secretary Wendy Wilson hosted a quiz night on Friday evening at the Worthing Indoor Bowling Club. An enjoyable evening for our members away from the bowling green evaluating their general knowledge instead of their bowling skills.
