News Update
Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 28th July 2024.
(July 28, 2024)The trip to Tarring Priory for a Stracey Shield fixture proved to be productive with Marine Gardens returning with all 10 points having won all 4 rinks (87- 65). Top Rink honours went to David Smith, Alan Paterson, Pamela Chambers and skip Tim Baldwin with a 25 - 15 win following a late surge. Special mention must be given to Roger Parrish, Helen Stirling, Ken Leadbeater and James Albon who recorded a Hot Shot (all 8 shots on one end). Credit to the opposition who took this game to the final end before losing a 5-shot advantage to lose 23 - 20.
The trip to Worthing Pavilion was less rewarding with only 2 points being garnered by Captain Jim Gray, David Smith, Ken Leadbeater and Jenny Ashman who registered a fine 21 - 17 victory. This was another Stracey Shield fixture in which we lost 3 -1 rinks (95-67).
Severe weather thwarted play in our matches against Arundel away in the GSM league and at home in the WSBL. Points were shared in both matches, 3 - 3 and 4 - 4, respectively.
More seasonal weather attended our home match in the Stracey Shield against Goring Manor. Marine Gardens came out on top on this occasion winning on 2 rinks, drawing on 1, and losing on 1 with an overall shot advantage of 97- 69 with the points divided 7 - 3. Top Rink honours were well deserved by Albert Leatham, Paula Seymour, Duncan Gayler and skip David Sayer with an impressive 27 - 8 win.
It is good to see some of our newer members making themselves available for matches. We all made our match debut at some point so please be supportive remembering how we felt then!
