Marine Gardens Bowling Club, report w/ending Sunday, 15th September 2024.
(September 15, 2024)Marine Gardens experienced mixed fortunes in this period winning 2 and losing 2 matches.
Southwater won comfortably on their patch 3 – 1 rinks (67 - 46). Betty Stevenson, Leon White and skip Tim Baldwin tried to paint a better picture with a 23 - 9 victory on their rink.
The losing streak continued in the Brodie Tray match at home to Worthing who also ran out 3 – 1 rink winners (76 - 51). The consolation victory for Marine Gardens was in a closely contested rink (16 - 15) earned by Albert Leatham, John Dorkings, Jim Gray and skip Ivan Godsmark.
Things then took a turn for the better in another Brodie Tray match at home to Maltravers. Although the rinks were shared 2 apiece Marine Gardens had the better overall shot score (73 - 64) thus gaining 6 points to Maltravers 4. Top Rink honours went to Roger Parrish, Wendy Wilson and skip Jim Gray.
A friendly match at East Preston concluded the fixtures this week and Marine Gardens finished on a high winning 3 – 1 rinks (109 - 63). Pride of place went to Bob Cole, Ken Leadbeater and skip Norman Deegan who could do no wrong in winning 33 - 8.
There are not many more matches to play before the season ends, so members make sure you add your name to the remaining match lists.
